@animegamerQ The battles are in real time, however your main character has a "base point" that he always returns to after his attacks.
This base point will either be the place where you last stopped him from running, the last point where he was attacked and hit by an enemy, or the point that you manually walked up to yourself.
The other characters can only be controlled indirectly with commands (or controlled by the AI), but you can change their positions with the Form command in the menu.

I like forcing Origin into a corner then spamming Gale Shield while Klarth rains Volt-based death on him.

The only tales games I like are TOP and Tales of Eternia. Hated both TOTA and TOS. The music is just so beautiful in TOP.

I liked GBA actually better than SNES because the "running back" was soooo annoying in this version ;)
