Thank you very much for posting this video!

I remember when they use to race these at the Sydney Showgrounds in Australia in the 1960's. They were called midgets back then. Racing legend, Jack Brabham used to drive one of these in his early days.
Safety was not high priority back then it seems... little roll bar and a "pudding basin" helmet... I was only an anklebiter when I first saw them race... it was awesome stuff.. I can still remember the smell of the racing fuel as they hurtled around the showground arena.

When men were men , and not overpaid ponces who are wrapped in cotton wool. When these men raced , you could buy the farm at any time! The greatest, well my vote is for "The Geezer" Don Branson. A HARD man amongst hard men. I salute them all! Respect

When race car drivers were heros and men you wish you could be.

It's kinda funny how indycar or Formula 1 racing and Sprint car racing had the same roots. One was on pavement and the other on clay. But I still can't stop loving sprints.......There is nothing like'em. When you can run a full second fastest than your NASCAR counter parts, on the same length f track, you know you are getting schooled.

can't help to think today's top sprintcar racers are candy asses compared to these guys.
The music is an electric guitar cover of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow". I don't know how many asphalt tracks there were in 1964. I'm sure an old USAC yearbook would clear the question up however.
Thank you for the compliment. I wanted color, imagination and flavor added to the video cuts, and felt these two fit pretty good.

I wanted to give an idea of the kind of edge these guys had, in fairly modern tone. It was a big deal back then, and should be remembered that way.
Of course the best is in the videos that comes from the original. The resolution loses a bit here, but it's the best I can do.
