  • I think you need a location upgrade for videos....

  • @SonicOrbStudios The wife says the garage is perfect for my hobby LOL .... in fact I thought I needed a wardrobe upgrade first! As you can see from my equipment list Dave, I am not running my own Audio/Video production studio. Cheers Rusty.

  • excelent audio quality for recording an interview

  • "Microphones! Not nipple clamps!" That made me laugh.

  • @tapmad - I have the Playsport and was planning to switch to Zi8 with audio as the main reason but also had the idea of just getting an audio recorder, mic and then sync the audio with the video in post. Your just turned my plan into action. Thumbs up!

  • @tapmad AH! THANK YOU mate! Just what i wanted to hear!

I will look into this model also!

    Cheers bro!

  • @ace69er short answer - Yes! however you need to get your sound levels right before starting. You endup having to keep your volume down. Actually the newer Playtouch Zi10 seems to do a bit better job handling volume from mixer inputs.

  • @tapmad Yeah checked it out, still not quite what i am after, DOES it only handle mic inputs only or LINE level also? Cos i want to input audio from a mixed soruce ie mixer. Specs on the site arent clear on it.

    i like the price however.

  • @ace69er As in the video, plugged the Lav mics into the Zi8 so it has stereo inputs. I bought it because it ticked all the boxes for me. I shoot personal family friends stuff and make YouTube vids. For the price you get an awful lot of value, but like any camera, no matter what the price, to get good results you need light and sound. That's why I got the lav mics and I also have a small 36 LED light which sits on a bracket with the camera - great for parties at night. Good luck!
