Well they do share quite a few small components, but major things like the chassis are only shared on the TT and A3. The only engine they share is the 2.0T and even then, the version Audi uses only shares the block. Things like the dual clutch transmission are also shared. So basically, Audi still is quite independent but VW benefits heavily by Audi's developments. =)
