Houston Heat's 3rd Heat at the Houston DB Festival 2011

Here's a recording taken from a GoPro worn by the team drummer (Diane Wong) during the 3rd heat of the 2011 Houston Dragon Boat Festival. Boat #1 collided w/ our boat twice during the run. The first collision was around a minute into the video. As a result, their boat lost it's dragon head (compare the front of Boat 1 at 0:54 and 1:10). Our experienced steersman and coach (Jeff Gee), called for us to stop paddling around 1:10 into the recording but, then commanded us to start once again after checking that our boat was OK. Despite, the speed and momentum lost during the confusion, Houston Heat was able to recover and still win the race. The judges immediately voided the results and called for an immediate do-over of the same heat. And due to our conditioning, the subsequent race was clearly in our favor. Way the go team!
