Dramatic game from Sky Sports Classics. Liverpool needed to win by 2 clear goals to get through to the knockout stages of the Champions Leauge, going a goal down in the first half. Liverpool scored 3 in the second, with a stunner from Steven Gerrard. Later that season, Liverpool won the trophy by coming from 3 goals down to win on penalties against AC Milan. Martin Tyler & Andy Gray commentary.

"Well you just don't have scripts like this in the world of fiction. It can only happen in the living theater that is live football...it would have been too much for lesser teams"

  • OOOOH YA BEATY,,, WHAT A HIT SON ,,, WHAT A HIT !!! Andy Gray !!

  • @TheHardCable Florent Sinama Pongolle is playing for AS Saint-Étienne in France on loan from Sporting Clube de Portugal, he got it going with that goal in the 47th minute, and what a nice feed by Harry Kewell (Harry is also still playing, in the Hyundai A-League, the top flight league in his native Australia) to set up that tally, which was the beginning of the end for Olympiakos in that match, and the beginning of the (to quote Martin Tyler) historical evening "worth an annual of its own".

  • @metaldigger Ya know guys, if that steward could I'd bet he would've given Steven Gerrard a big hug as well, and that Stevie G would be more than willing to return the favor too. :)

Hugs all around for all Liverpool supporters around the world, this coming from a USA-based VfL Wolfsburg supporter who also digs LFC as well, I'll bet that legendary Olympiakos keeper Antonios Nikopolidis would want to have had that second half back after letting 3 go by him. Sorry, son, no mulligans in football.

  • As great as Olympiakos keeper Antonios Nikopolidis was in Greece he will always go down in the books as having never won a European Cup.

  • WHAT A HIT SON!!!

  • Andy Gray: the manager must be thinking, not bad 15 seconds
