When the PR rangers do scorpion hunts with the black lights, its pretty amazing how many are around. We found one in our cabin at PR in November.
You're right about the stairs; they're not that easy at all, they seem made more for a mule's stride than mine!

Thanks for the comment. Funny thing there were no pests at all or at least none that we noticed. Didn't see a scorpion or rattlesnake in the Canyon at all. Saw a mountain goat though.
Sleepin on the ground under the stars was incredible.
