I know Keni Burke from Doug E Fresh sampling Keep rising to the top - nice bass line, simple but nice - I love the dude with the braids from the 70's who played on all the disco hits - he's a bad ass MFr.
I had a look for you and it could be Melvin Dunlap who played the bass for Bill Withers on Close to You.
They were a classical band them, I love old 70's recordings, they pimp drummer who has cool running up and down his nervous system hahaha
