  • so, if "the grid" goes down, Penny will be out of luck and electricity or she will only have power during the day? Hard to believe she's asking the questions she's asking at this point in the process.

  • @jamesc426 This type of system is what is known as a grid tie. Grid tie systems cost less than non grid tie systems. we can install both. Penny's need was not to have power in case of grid going down it was more to do something positive for our world

  • that lady was duped

  • Awesome how much does a system like that cost? And what to go through to get it

  • how much did this system cost?

  • great video---I must try this

  • I just noticed your name

believe it or not my name is Ian Currie

  • nice video and very nice setup. grats on your system. i hope to one day have a professional system install, but till then i'll use my home made 180w setup.

  • That is great in my opinion no matter now you look at it. I can't wait for my next house because I plan on running a solar system. In 15 years when those panels fail they will cost a fraction of the price to replace and be ten times more powerful, so what the big deal? Ya its not a short term investment but if my parents had the chance to install that system when they first bought their house it would of paid them back and then some even if they had to replace the panels once already.

  • If you use a grid-tie system the power company will install a 2nd meter that pays you back at the cheaper wholesale rate. You pay for each KW at the retail rate, and give back at the wholesale rate, resulting in a net loss as your credit back is less than what they bill you.
