PART 2

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF), one of the main outcomes of the UN World Summit on the Information
Society (WSIS), will have its 3rd meeting in Hyderabad/India in December 2008. The IGF is developing into an
innovative new global multistakeholder policy development platform for Internet Governance. But also other
institutions are moving forward. ICANNs Joint Project Agreement (JPA) terminates in October 2009. OECD has
added after its Ministerial Meeting in Seoul (June 2008) Internet Governance to its list of high priorities. ITU will
have its World Telecommunication Policy Forum (WTPF) on convergence and internet in March 2009. The panel
will discuss the various options for future institutional arrangements on Internet Governance. It will also discuss
how the IGF can be more efficiently linked to the broader challenge of sustainable development and the
Millenium Development Goals (MDG).
