Kenyans have been told to prepare themselves to register afresh as voters in a new recruitment drive that is set to begin on the 22nd of March. According to the Interim Independent Electoral Commission, the exercise that will last 45 days should ensure the country has a new voters roll by early June which will probably be in time for the much anticipated national constitution referendum. IIEC chairman Ahmed Issack Hassan said the Commission was targeting to enrol 18 million voters. Hassan also announced that there will be a pilot electronic voter registration exercise in selected 19 constituencies, a process that will be expected to minimise chances of double or multiple registration which has been so common in the manual register.
