A message from the Concert Director, Lorin Johnson

Welcome to the second of this year's Contemporary Dance Concerts, featuring original choreography by the undergraduate dance majors of the CSULB Department of Dance. I am very proud of the work each of our choreographers has invested in these pieces, and would like to thank all the students, faculty and staff who made this concert possible through their dedication to the creative process. It is impossible to share with you, the audience, the numerous revisions and drafts each choreographer grappled with in creating their dances, or the countless hours each spent in assuring that a movement or gesture felt "just right." As the great painter, Paul Klee stated: "Art does not reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible." These choreographers have given themselves fully to their artistic investigation, boldly asking questions and working tirelessly to refine their creative vision. I hope you will be intrigued by what they have made visible for us to enjoy.
