NO to CAFTA! NO al TLC de Centroamerica! Neo-liberal Corporate Globalization is a FAILURE, it must end here and now!

Communiqué of Monday October 19, 2003
Sisters and brothers of Central America, community organizations of America, and media organizations,
We send a warm greeting from Houston, Texas where we are working in solidarity with those in Central America who are confronting the crisis of neo-liberalism and corporate globalization. For our part we are doing what we can to take the message "No to CAFTA" to the streets and to the media. If allowed to pass, CAFTA will extend the misery of Mexico's "free trade" experience to five more countries while the United States dedicates itself to its imperial adventures. Bothers and Sisters, we can not let this happen.
Because of the anti-democratic and secretive nature of this trade agreement we consider it illegitimate and we will continue to struggle against it in Houston and every city and town in America. The failure of neo-liberal corporate globalization has to end here and now!
In Cancún we saw the organized strength of the poor countries of the world, demanding their rightful place as participants in negotiations previously dominated by the United States through blackmail and bribery. In a similar spirit, we are here to challenge the Central American negotiators and representatives to have the courage to not permit the re-colonization of our countries by U.S. corporations.
The urgency of our actions reflects the urgency of survival being felt by violated populations because elite governments have been disposed to sell off everything, in exchange for the perception of being a collaborative agent for trade and development when in reality they facilitate conquest and exploitation.
Enough already! We, together, can make a better world possible. We demand a moratorium on negotiations now! NO to CAFTA!!

Hermanos de Centroamerica, organizaciones comunitarias de toda América, y medios de comuncación,
Un caloroso saludo desde Houston, Tejas donde estamos trabajando en solidaridad con nuestros compañeros de Centroamerica quienes se enfrentan a la crisis de la globalización y el neo-liberalismo. De nuestra parte hacemos lo posible llevar a la calle y a los medios el mensaje de "No al TLC de Centroamerica." Si se cumple el TLC de CA va extender la miseria de México a cinco paises mas mientras los EE.UU. se dedica a sus aventuras imperialistas. Compañer@s no podemos permitir esto.
Por su origen anti-democratico este tratado es ilegitimo y será peleado desde Houston hasta cada ciudad y pueblo en América porque éste fracaso de globalización neo-liberal tiene que terminar aqui y ahora.
En Cancún se vio la gran fuerza organizada de los paises pobres del mundo cuando exigían ser participes en las negociaciones donde antes los EE UU dominaba con sus tácticas de chantaje y soborno. Igualmente aqui estamos retando a los negociadores Centroamericanos de tener el valor de no permitír la re-colonización de nuestros paises por empresas estadounidenses.
La urgencia de nuestras acciones reflejan la urgencia de sobrevivencia que sienten las poblaciones violadas por los gobiernos élites quienes están dispuestos a venderlo todo, a cambio de recibir una percepción de colaboradores con un plan de desarollo y comercio cuando estan facilitando la conquista y explotación.
¡Ya Basta! Juntos haremos un mundo mejor posible. Exigimos un moratorio a las negociaciones. ¡NO al TLC de Centroamerica!

I think your enthusiamism in your message is great, but your excersing of it is horrible. The video said that group of protestors were located inside a hotel, that doesn't appear to be a polite thing to go and do, yelling and screaming and disrupting their business.
