There are some repeated clips in there, but to tell the truth, there arn't many clips in the anime when Akito is smiling so work with me here.Oh and I suggest watching it on the full screen, because the manga shots are more tiny then I intended them to be.

I read the whole manga series and I watched the whole anime :o yes people it is shocking I know but we all have to deal with it...... Yes her mother was abusive you know as that say... "like mother like daughter"....

Akito is a girl. she was raised as a boy because she represents God in the zodiac, her mother was also a horrible abusive person who forced her to be a boy. its all explained later in the manga.
