No their very lightweight, I once coudnt even get down had to put the nose down with airbrakes full open to get out of the thermal.

Good to hear, lot of character to the old beasties. I have the exact name for this glider at home, was an article in the newspaper about it, but so far keep forgetting to edit my blurb.

How is it to fly thermals in a plane like that? Dont you need a quite strong thermal?

Yeah I would guess so. I've only been for a brief blat as you can see but even so you know when you run over an updraft. For it's age and design it would have served the purpose of trainer pretty well, but I don't think you'd ever break any records in it.

Will take your word for it. I did come across a picture recently of what looked to be the same sailplane. didn't take any notice of the name though.
