I'm totally making the funky face right now. That face where you look like you just smelled thirteen bags of chit...That's where I'm at right now. It's ugly. That's what James'll do to you. Cause it's a mutha...

the break at 5:20 is what Kool Herc used to play in Hip Hop's original parties... over and over again...

Well, we couldn't know for sure, but there could be some truth in what you suggest. His wife (the one he really loved), died in surgery whilst haveing more cosmetic stuff done to her body, in 1996. His eldest son died in a car crash back in 1973. It all takes its toll.
But, personally, I think catching pneumonia at age 73 is what done it. Travelling to so many couintries around the world for all those years, you're going to ctach something at some time...!

@IkeDyson71 I watched the video. Thank you.
James Brown died of pneumonia, but I wonder if really he died from a broken heart. I know his reputation as a positive role model and positive force in society really meant a great deal to him. And he said he felt really bad about his reputation being hurt by the prison time he did late in life. And also there were the allegations of him hitting his women. One woman even said he seriously threatened to kill her. Maybe all of that broke his heart.

@fantasykissass Don't kid yourself. There's still plenty of young people who love classical music.
-
No - I doubt that the "wife beating" was a myth. Too many of his women have claimed he hit them.
On my video, "JAMES BROWN Soul Brother Number One", you can see him campaigning for Democrat Hubert Humphrey in the 1968 election. Then, in 1972, he campaigned for Nixon, because Nixon had called a lot of Black leaders into the White House to talk about "Black capitalism" - although that's not in the video, though...
Is that James Brown playing the organ?
