It's a kind of fungus like a mushroom but not the same botanical family as a mushroom. OR It is a kind of chocolate that is rolled in cocoa powder so that it looks like the fungus.
If you want a surprise, look up white truffles. In 2008, a 2.2 lb (1kg) white truffle went for $200,000 US. I don't have hope that I'll be able to try white truffle. Not if it's that expensive.

@EmilyAnzalone0215 pigs are used, there much better at it, but try to take food away from a 100 lbs hog.

yes agreed that is the traditional way, but because the pigs like the truffles so much and they usually try to eat them, they found it easier to use dogs.
