@RodrigoCabanillas I understand that. I already know all of that. What confuses me is why you quoted me when you said that. I don't understand what I said wrong? I never said anything about the Fusen Ryu inclusion, Kosen development, etc.

Newaza was not a huge part of original Jujutsu because these were martial arts, not sports and you are not supposed to grapple on the ground on self-defense scenarios.
When Fusen ryu beat the kodokan, by basically sitting on the ground and butt scooting towards their opponents, newaza became more developed, by this time Maeda was already in the process of leaving Japan.
The big development in newaza came from school competition though, and that happened over 10 years after.

He did not teach it because he didnt knew it, newaza was not as developed in the times of Maeda, it grew with Kosen competition in the first quarter of the century when rules similar to BJJ were in place.

@wildchilde69 Rolls was known for competing in Judo, Sambo, and wrestling. He took a lot of techniques from both of those arts, including the triangle, as Maeda did not teach the triangle to the Gracies for whatever reason. Rolls was also said to have a very powerful Uchimata. Rickson Gracie became the new "family champion" when Rolls died prematurely in a hang gliding accident. Before Rickson, Rolls was considered the best among the family.
