why is it popular to pretend to have a heart when you're spending other people's money? Screw FDR liberals. My family immigrated from the USSR only to have its ideals follow us, i see. Also, republicans haven't helped at all.

Hey that's pretty cool. I graduated high school almost a year ago exactly and always wondered what is was like to be homeschooled.

@FightGlobalPoverty- It is well beyound the point the point of no return. The collapse is inevitable the currency must fall. The reserve has been seeing to that for a hundred years. The real question is: are we gonna sit and let these murderous elite take us down with it or are we gonna make a stand, end the tyranny and aid in a smooth currency transition.

We had financial panics every 20 years in the 19th century under the gold standard. Every monetary system needs to defend itself from financial shocks.
We need to discourage risky loans, regulate securities, have the fed focus on inflation targeting, continue FDIC insurance, and do everything we can to prevent a financial collapse from destroying the world's economy.

Hi garytr21, it was a mixture of things that created this crisis.
The government encouraged subprime loans but did not regulate risky securities that allowed Wall Street to fund them on a massive scale.
Futhermore, we had a budget surplus in the 1990s before Bush's huge tax cuts created large deficits. That makes it more difficult for the government to pay for the rescue.

We've been earning this economic depression for years through greed and bad policy. I'm sorry, but it can't go on. I agree with you that it would cause an economic depression. That, too, shall pass. But sure, the people responsible will be kicking and screaming like a dying animal and trying to convince us who actually work for money to subsidize them some more. I'll trade my skills for potatoes and meat. I guess it's not progress, but that's a task for the progressives to worry about.

I get all that. Fiat currency has pros and cons. Right now we are feeling the cons as people realize that Bernanke's printing press doesn't actually give us more wealth. Also, the cause of this financial crisis is government intervention in the form of the Fed as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Thank Bill Clinton for that. $1 isn't worth anything if we continue to aim for hyperinflation with the bailout and future policies. Spend your dollars now. Buy gold.

Eliminating banking fractional reserves will not prevent this because this crisis started in nonbank mortgage lenders. Checking accounts are only one part of the financial industry.

I met you guys at the Rally for the Republic. Dunno if you remember me, I was the long haired guy that didn't recognize you in the basement with all the volunteers you guys crammed in the elevator with. I guess if I ever see you guys again I can say I know you, eh?
