My heart goes out to Maurice in this scene (Both novel & film) The scene where he standing nude & studying his reflection in the mirror is heart breaking. Maurice feels ugly, unwanted & unloved in this scene.

Poor old Clive. Self hatred is a terrible thing.
Real shame this was cut. Apart from anything else it's some of the best acting Hugh Grant has ever got a chance to do.

this scene fleshes out Clive's character in an important way. i guess the movie would have been too long if these deleted scenes would have been included, but it's nice to have them as a reference. what would be nice is to have a "director's cut" that includes all of the deleted scenes seen in their proper context.
