I grew up reading the comics Jack Kirby illustrated, they were my main source of entertainment as a child and they helped spark my imagination. I feel sorry for kids today. They have so much to keep them entertained that nothing will ever be as important to them as comics were to me

I echo many others sentiments on this man...as a kid I never appreciated his work, but now that I am older and wiser, I realize just what a creative genius he was. His stuff just crackles with energy, and that is the best way I can describe what I feel makes him great. Wish I hadn't wasted so many years not appreciating his work!

When I was a kid,and saw my first marvel comic, two to be exact. The X-Men and Thor,it was Jack Kirby's art that did it. I so much wanted to draw like the King, that iconic posture drawn, over extended anatomy, that dynamic action, those black cosmic energy bubbles. I wanted to be a comic book artist, when I saw his work for the first time.

I'm a graphic artist, myself, and I consider Jack Kirby my one and ONLY mentor.
The man was a pop-art genius. Not even Warhol could beat Kirby's work.

In a world of hyper detail Kirby is still the best because his work was electric and dynamic.

It was 17 years ago today, he left us. i shed a tear, when i seen his opit in the paper. it was such a little one they printed, when it should have been the big story of the day.

Sounds like a really humble guy. That's the thing abt comics, they create great work but they're behind the scenes unless ur really pursuint & into it...
I really wish I could have met Kirby
just once,
Sad to say I really got into his artwork at the end of his life and just never got the chance to meet him and say something like
"Thank you for everything".

The rating on this vid should be 5 stars without question but clearly some people TODAY have absolutely no clue about the real history of comics and comic FILM. I can't help but be angry that ANYONE who clearly loves comics would rate this below 4.
