@ikea4lifeyh depends no your tinterpretation of the poem, to me its that magicians assistants are seen as unimportant to the actual magic but actually are a huge part of each thing the magician does, sometimes being ignored a lot even tho they are in grave danger in some tricks; compare this to how someone depressed might see themself and it makes some sense...or it might be that the person this is about is/was a magicians assistant and its a way of identifying them without a name
