A music video tribute to David Bowie's song "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)"
The song is from the 1982 remake of the film "Cat People", but this video has nothing to do with that, or the 1942 original. The song was also featured (brilliantly) in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" (2009) Since this video was made before that, it doesn't relate to that either :).
Bowie wrote the lyrics - the music is by Giorgio Moroder.
The video follows general themes of Desire, Longing and Fear.
It features numerous characters of mine - many of whom do happen to be felines :) - but the "main character" of the video is Cohaas the dracophoenix, from my fantasy graphic novel concept "Escapia". Here's a description of the character:
http://animagusurreal.deviantart.com/art/Fire-and-Music-45335354
"The big guy is Cohaas, the only known dracophoenix (dragon-phoenix hybrid) in the kingdom of Quintessentia. He's hovering near the Zoho Bridge, the artistic district of the capital city of Paromdon.
Balodyquil, a.k.a. Ballad Quill, the gryphon musician, and his human friend/musical partner Sondrew Hayne (both residents of Zoho) are trying to dissuade him from doing any damage by using music to 'soothe the savage beast.'
Cohaas isn't actually the malevolent type, but he is a bit embittered. It's believed that when mature, he will be the most powerful (and potentially destructive) creature in Quintessentia, so he's been slayed several times before he reaches maturity, only to be reborn, in the manner of phoenixes, to live through his youth all over again. He's supposed to be a teenager here.
He's regarding Ballad and Sondrew with a combination of disbelief, mistrust, and amusement."
Bowie also happens to be one of my "dream cast" choices for the voice of Ballad the gryphon.

The black-and-white versions with the green or red eyes were created especially for this video.

It was from the movie "Cat People", so I think it had at least something to do with cats (big cats anyway, panthers.) Anyhow, I just liked the feeling of it. Not all of the characters in my video are cats, anyway :).
