  • what was your main reason for switching out the 318 for the 8V92, more power?

  • For one the 318 had been pumping water for three years and go up the mountian for gravel takes power and also the 318 bearings were also in the pan so she was tired and we use to have 9 freightliner cabovers with 92 in the 80's to 90's so we knew the motors so all in all power

  • @Freightshaker8v92

Besides, both the "318" and the 8V92TA are about the same size.

  • Yeah but one puts out 318 and the 92 puts out 550 with marine injectors

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X Actually there is a substantial difference in "size" between a 318 and a 430. There is the 100 cubic inches as well as the pair of turbo chargers, extra exhaust add to that the after cooler you are going to notice more than a little tighter. I would suspect a "Green Leaker" with marine injectors pulling a grade as in the video might appreciate a larger rad to assist in cooling? Pushing more fuel into causes more heat to come out of.

  • Same rad we just got er redone for the new engine and we have manual fan overide if she starts creepin up in heat
