Here is Bill Maher mocking George W. Bush for spending money back during the Bush v. Kerry race. Bush left the White House with an estimated $482 billion deficit. But now that Obama is in office there is no more talk about deficit. The deficit is now $1.4 trillion and by Obama's administration predictions will be $1.58 trillion by the end of the year. It is crazy how views change in four years, Bill Maher?

  • @AlmostAlwaysFabulous Except anyone with an ounce of common sense can see it isn't over, all they did was try to kick the can down the road, the American economy is in worse shape now than it was in 2007/8 and unless you guys make drastic cuts then there will be a major crisis in the next 2-3 years.

  • Maher is hardly mocking. He's simply pointing out the facts.

Of course, in the parallel non-reality hardcore neo-cons/conservatives/proto-fascists occupy... even fact is not safe from "modification."

  • Unemployment down almost 1 percent from its peak, it isn't a huge gain, but this recession could have been so much worse.

  • "reform requires $."

    what does thismean??

" But seeing as the economy has started to recover you cant say that spending is in vain. "

what evidence of recovery are you looking at??

  • Conservatives often do what Liberals would do & Liberals often do what conservatives would do. Point being you can't criticize Maher for supporting Obama because, like Maher points out, Bush spent big $ & spent it frivolously. If Bill is a conservative how can he support Bush when Bush spent so much $? Obama is a liberal meaning he is looking for reform. Unfortunately reform requires $. But seeing as the economy has started to recover you cant say that spending is in vain.

IMO, the economy was clearly collapsing and it could have been much worse. But how they did save the banks was also a disaster - Wall Street is still partying. Check out this grim compilation of top economists' opinions:

I don't know what Rham actually meant, but Obama ran on a somewhat progressive platform with big modernization and investment plans.

I'm sorry it took you by surprise that after winning the elections he tried to implement them in some form LOL

  • I know that's what it says, but I don't think it was meant to be taken literally.

  • I don't think that's true, but guns are a lot less necessary than knives and cars.

  • We might both agree on. I am a Senior Payroll Accountant Specialist who has done payroll since1980. Any bonus is taxed. But it has long made me mad that Top executives who do not perform well walk away with golden parachutes in millions when they leave acompany that is doing poorly. I hear now companies plan on giving them just stock rather than a bonus that way if a company is doing poorly their stock also will be doing poorly. Any pay should be tied to performance of those you hire.
