Taqwacore: The Birth of Punk Islam follows Michael and his kindred spirits as they travel across the U.S. in their green school bus, challenging Muslims and non-Muslims with punchy anthems like Sharia Law in the U.S.A. Their spiritual odyssey then leads them to Pakistan, where they bring punk to the streets of Lahore and reconnect with Islam in a bold new way.

@Zanthios This documentary isn't supposed to be a representation of Islam. It's a representation of a subculture and one of person's (Michael Knight's) interpretation of Islam. And the Kominas are not a "Islamic punk band". If you're secure with yourself as a muslim, someone with different views shouldn't be so threatening to you.

Oh my god, I'm a Muslim, love grunge,punk metal all kinds of rock. But the way they mixed it up? Punk Islam? There is no Punk Christianity? So what the heck...I would've been more happy if they constructed this a little more. The music isn't that great either...It's like they're just trying. Just be who you are man, and if you are Muslim, don't let it conflict you're spirituality.

there is nothing known as punk islam. this film is filled with confused people, who don't know what identity to choose: punk or islam, so they try to mix them both in. it does not work that way guys... sorry, but this film only brings forward confusions, and is of course filled confused, illiterate and ignorant people. they don't even deserve to be called muslims, let alone punk!!!
