  • In Deva, which is what the girls are being tested for, its certainly NOT about leisure and recreational gymnastics: the focus is on achievemet. Maybe there are recreational gymnastics centres in Romania, but this programme is about the girls who are aiming for competitive gymnastics, and representing their country.

  • romanian clubs teach almost everyone. this was exclusively about deva club. over there only the best kids were and are selected. there is the place were the national team trains. they cannot admit everybody, because the state pays for everything. so, obviously, there are limited places. which is why many parents want there children in there. they will sleep, eat, go to school, train, in deva and the parents don't have to pay for anything. it is like a scholarship. not everybody can get it.

  • It's nice to see that even when she was obviously not happy in the video, there were flashes of that lovely smile. I'm glad she defected when she did or she may have become even more unhappy.

  • Yeh it was accurate :)

"small and round'ish" if you want per-word translation.

We haven't been infested yet by your political correctness obsession. If you're chubby, you're chubby. If you're skinny, you're skinny. Nothing wrong with it, so why hide it under complicated excusing phrases such as "weight challenged" No you are not challenged, you are beautiful and....chubby! :)

  • Where?

  • Hey that's andrea cocovean!

  • they have, but a very small one. and they are not immigrants, they are born in romania. however, ecaterina szabo is a hungarian born in romania.

  • This translation is accurate?

    Small and chubby? Caty Szabo??

Isn't that a little too harsh??

  • Here in the western world verbal abuse is not tolerated by any authority figure less from a teacher.

  • I agree completely about the difference in mentality of the kids:read my comments, and you will see I agree with you.

  • There are a couple of girls, Raluca Vinatoru, and Mariana Oboroceanu, who were very promising indeed, but their trainer(not Nadia) had a fight with Octavian Belu and they werent allowed to train at Deva. Very sad, They never got the chance to shine:( Most of the girls end up with career-ending injuries, so never go on to represent their country at World Championships and Olympics, unfortunately:(
