There is no "Soggy Bottom Boys", this was adapted from an old folk song and performed by Dan Tyminski of Union Station. Look up Dan Tyminski and Ron Block

Dan Tyminski said he told his wife he would be doing vocals for GC during this song...and she said that that was her fantasy! LOL

@sunrayvista according to cloony he can't sing at all and it would appear those around him thought the same. but, just listen to him tell you... watch?v=jTgDiE4btvg&feature=re

Who cares who sang it, and where the name came from. It is a great movie, and an excellent bluegrass song. Just enjoy it.

Just read something this week by the lead musician behind the O'Brother soundtrack rerelease for the film's 10th anniversary. He said GC did a great job singing but it didn't sound bluegrass enough to pass for the time/style. He also said he's heard him singing and GC could easily have been a professional singer like his aunt as he's got a great voice. So more jazzy sounding than bluegrass. Well there you go!
