  • @dimboukas Yes, I do. Maybe we should continue this by e-mail (if you wish). You can find my e-mail address on my Robert Schumann website (robertschumann.es)

  • @commanderfairfax So you really like Kremer's performance with Harnoncourt? I think it did not help at all at improving the reputation of this concerto.

  • @dimboukas And I will never believe that Schumann didn't know exactly what he was doing when he marked the tempi as slow as he did. When played at the right speed, the "unplayable" not only becomes very playable, but also extraordinarily beautiful.

  • @Violinboyhere If you listen to the last movement at Schumann´s marked pace (which is more or less how Kremer plays it in his 1994 recording), you can appreciate all the subtle nuances of the differences between the six iterations of the theme

  • @commanderfairfax I will never ever believe that an acclaimed violinist should follow Schumann's metronome instructions. His tempo is extremely slow. I just can't figure out what he had in his mind.

  • @commanderfairfax No, this is really slow compared to others. If he played it any slower, we all would go home! haha

  • So beautiful !!!

  • 10:00 Gosh!!!

  • Love it!

  • After listening to the first movement I was expecting great things, but unfortunately, as is common, both these movements are taken too fast and the third in particular has liberties taken with it. At Schumann's marked tempi, the 2nd movement should take about 7 minutes and the third just under 15 (309 bars of 3/4 time. 63 crotchets to the minute is 21 bars to the minute. 309/21 is 14.71 or 14 minutes 42 seconds; there are no marked changes in tempo.)

  • wow!!!!!!Fantastic!
