I was at this gig, first Christmas/winter away from NZ - love this song and wasn't expecting to hear it, brought tears to my eyes. A very moving concert for a couple of homesick kiwis. Your mate is singing the wrong song though! Cheers for posting. :-)

@lesterlives It's a cover of an Australian band, Hunter's and Collectors song. Written by the lead singer Mark Seymour. Brother of Crowed House bass player.
Check the youtubes for various versions by Mark Seymour. There's even one where he's singing this song with Pearl Jam.
Better still educate yourself on all of Hunters and Collectors' songs..."Holy Grail" would make a good football song for the crowd.
