@affEMS7 Thats good. They need the room in the back. I haven't seen Squad 1 in person but I've seen a picture. Its big and yes a beast. Yeah, I think when it will come time to replace it, they will go with a crimson, most likely the same as their newer engines. From what I heard they love them, so for now they wont be looking at pierce in the future of new engines
@martintheman16 The new engines are huge in the back. An adult could easily stand up with no problems. Have you seen squad 1 up close, the maroon '88 Kenworth? What a beast! It was featured in a fire apparatus photography book, but I can't remember the name of it. From what I'm told, that was "THE rig" to be on back in the day. It used to have dual smokestacks, but they had to nix those and re-route the pipe underneath for exhaust hose compatibility. Nice old rig that was ahead of its time.
@martintheman16 Just a hunch. I know the EQ2B is slightly cheaper, E5 is a Pierce Enforcer which was considered a somewhat more economical alternative to the Arrow XT, Quantum, etc. Plus (by no means is there anything wrong with this), but the rig itself is fairly standard design - no raised rear roof, no roll up doors, basic lighting package. All in all, I think they were looking at getting the best product while being as value conscious as possible.
@firemedic916 I'm thinking it was strictly a cost issue. I know this rig is a 2005, and their newest engines (2009s) have real Qs with a Whelen electronic as a backup.

@affEMS7 True, they ran with spartan back in the 80s, no raised roof or anything. The newer crimson units are nice
