Video Contest: If you had the opportunity to speak to the world leaders, what would you say?

Well, here is your chance. Use your voice as a global citizen and tell these leaders in a short video what you think needs to be done to make this world a better and safer place. Be a Citizen Ambassador to the UN.

Guidelines:
1. Create your own video, no more than 3 minute duration, focusing on the subject of the contest.
2. Add English subtitles to videos in other languages.
3. Upload the video to your YouTube account.
4. Add it as a REPLY VIDEO to the video you are watching right now.
5. Deadline for submissions: 10 October 2009

Selection process:
1. The best 5 video entries will be selected by a committee based on compelling content, originality and creativity.
2. The finalists will be designated Citizen Ambassadors, and will be invited to United Nations Headquarters in New York on the occasion of the 64th UN Day.
3. They will take a special guided tour of UN Headquarters, have their photo taken with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and receive VIP seating at the UN Day Concert, to be held on Friday 23 October 2009.

So go on, speak to the world. This is your chance to be a Citizen Ambassador to the UN.

  • THANK YOU ALL for submitting videos and/or comments to this video contest.

The deadline has expired on 10th October 2009.

The winners will be announced on the United Nations Channel within the next few days.

It will certainly be a very difficult decision for the committee to select (from the combined list of entries in the 4 promotional videos) the best 5 video entries.

    Good luck to all

  • Congratulations 5 winners. You Deserve it!. Excellent videos.

  • Dear people,

We, the PEOPLE OF BELGIUM wondering why the video of Enée and Miranda Geerts called "VOICES WANTED TO BE HEARD" was removed by You-tube after it has been on your screen of the U.N.contest for 3 days?

We wonder what Mr. GEORGE CLOONEY would find of their video because he has met Enée and Miranda Geerts in the past in Italy (he saw the first short-movie of them and his public comment on it was at the time very possitive!!

Maybe, he can be an objective judge!

  • Carl Sagan said that same thing since the first television broadcast was from Hitler and that would be there first impression of us as they received our tv broadcasts.(scary HUH)

  • i don't have enough time to send a video but if i have a chance to meet the world leaders i will say to them: aliens are watching us and wondering why these silly human creatures waste too much time fighting and killing each other instead of concentrating in exploring the universe and meet up with other intelligent creatures

  • i might have once agreed with you on the nukes. but the world is full of poor, diseased, and hungry people. look on the un news reports. there are diseases for which there is no cure, there are many disasters that kill many people in the developing world, there are many wars, and energy is not a solved problem.

the un is a voice for all nations, even though not all are represented equally. working to create good may be more constructive than attempting to compel others to do so.

  • Thank you)))

  • How about giving the UN some nuclear weapons. You guys have no power. You might as well be a polling station for crying out loud. You're another nice idea in theory but you can't compete with the big boys...namely America. America is your daddy!!! When you and the US agree then the UN is great and relevant and powerful. When you disagree with the US you are irrelevant. Don't take my word for it...do some homework.

  • Wangari Maathai!! As a fellow Kenyan, I find very inspirational! :) I'm working on my video ;)
