It is not the sound IN the recording, it is what you get OUT of it.. It should evoke emotion of some kind, Segovia did that. He was a true pioneer.

this is from a group of live recordings entitled Segovia On Stage He was my first influence and I saw him twice, once in San Francisco and once in Phoenix. He does have great sound but I believe Julian Bream was too a great player with a great sound. there are many such players.
