I don't have watch this video know the answer is obvious the USSR is the winner. They launched the first object into space, the first living thing, the first human and the first female. And they also were the first who putted a object in orbit arround the moon and also placed the first man-made object on the moon.

During the space race, the US started research to create a pen which could write in space. After millions of dollars was spend, they have finally developed the pen. The Russians used a pencil.

@PlaneAU Actually, Adolf Hitler had very little interest in the space program aside from using it to attack his enemies. He had more of an interest in the concentration camps, and world domination. I find it difficult to believe that after he dominated the rest of the world, he would have continued the space program, beyond building satellites to watch the activity going on, on the surface.

The US doesn't really count anyway. They recruited Wernher von Braun, the man who created the V2 missile that bombed the UK and could have Nuked America, to help them in the space race. He was the creator of the SATURN 5 rocket that put the first Americans on the moon. The USA would have achieved nothing without the help of Nazi scientists and technology. Anyway if NAZI Germany had won the war we may already be on mars by now. Sad but true.

@Nielsblog It dosent matter how far along your are in the race, it matters who crosses the finish line first. Also the only reason the USSR had such good progress was due to their barbaric and unsafe methods.

@themanclaw2 The problem with a pencil is when it breaks in micro-gravity the microscopic graphite fragments will fly in your eyes, your lungs, your computer, and everywhere else.
