  • @thedecider1445 Really, I found it much easyier lapping my CPU because it has a much lower centre of gravity. lapping my first HSF was all over the place. Just takes alot of patience with a CPU. took me around 2 and a half hours moving up from 400 - 600 - 800 - 1000 - 1500 and then finally 2000 for a pretty much mirror finish. Buffed it up with some rubbing alc and a glass polish cloth and it was perfect! Gonna wait till my Q9550 gets replaced till i lap it.

  • that's exactly my concern hehe :P

I lapped my TRUE 120 asap tho.

Got a nice 5 deg cooler now

  • yeah you should, It means you aren't level flat ;)

Took me 3 hours on 320/400 to achieve

then use 600-800 to remove the scratches

and for mirror finish, you 1500-2000 + cleaner/polish finish

  • No I didn't, Lapping a CPU is much harder than lapping a Heat sink because of how light the CPU is and how even the lightest touch on it can make the surface slightly un-even or slanted. I did lap one of my old Core 2 Duo's and did an O.K job, not good enough to be comfortable with lapping an I7. I would lap it though if my warranty wasn't going to get nuked by doing it.

  • hey bro did u ever lap your i7 ? im thinking about lapping both of myne too. and if u did what was your results?

  • Hey, I got a question, when I lapped my TRUE I got it to a mirror(ish) like finish and it was flat enough but I didn't sand it down fully to the copper layer, there's still 2 strips of nickel down the sides. Should I pull it out and lap it again? My temps are awsome but I could go for overkill and lap my core i7 to. Any thoughts? Is it worth the +5C?

  • ill be makeing more vids :) you inspire me too. rick your da bomb

  • this is only a warning if u put that on ur CPU ur gona rape every one on the web

  • great rick !!! 5/5

  • i wonder if you are going to ever move away from all of you extreme air cooling and look into water cooling
