Hi - Will someone who is really from the south, PLEASE define "southern heritage" and "tradition" in regards to the flag? I'm reading these posts and I see those words often...elaborate.
The South fought for independence.. it's like the American flag and how it represents a certain heritage. It's not different with the Confederate Flag.. which is not a symbol of racism but a symbol of decentralized government.
well k2burton33, since nobody else is willing to step up, allow me to do so as a representative of the Southland and one who honors "Southern heritage". Quite simply, the terms you refer to mentioned date back to the origins of most Anglo-Southern people back to Ulster in Northern Ireland and Scotland where most of this group are from. The flag itself comes from the Cross of St. Andrew, flown by the Scots since the Middle Ages. These traditions go back deep.
im not saying just southern heritage is racism.. I mean that anybody (anywhere) giving a shit how there lineage traces back is racist and uninteresting. Oh yeah and i dont believe in the "good lord" so thats a stupid point. plus im from the south (irony)
no my heritage is one of honor and pride. the kkk is not my heritage. many black men earned a place of honor and dignity fighting along side white men in the confederate armies. dont say they didnt fight because even Fredrick Douglass said that black men wore the Confederate gray. granted slavery was wrong but it did bring Christ to many men wemon and childern who never would have come to the Good Lord. and if your not from the south dont tell us what to do with our flag. mind your own buisness
