Motorsport is misunderstood because it is too technical for the majority. Kicking or throwing a ball, chasing someone who has a ball or hitting a ball with a stick, now that's easy. It's why the majority of people on our public roads are incompetant halfwits, motoring in general is too technical.
Actually Roy's idea of selecting a representative range of cars from showrooms to run this race is a good one. Since Touring Car racing settled on Commodores and Falcons only, the whole series and Bathurst has been boring. Yes, bring back the classes, make them race showcar standard vehicles, force a proportion of the teams into V6 automatics, put in a roundabout every few hundred metres or so and watch the fun.
I lived in Australia for 15 years and all I miss is the great weather, people, the fantastic country that it is and roy and hg. However I podcast this sporting life, so it'll do.
I lived in England for a few years in the mid 90s. There were just two things that made me wish I was back in Australia ... Cooper's Sparkling Ale, and Roy and HG's "This Sporting Life" on JJJ. They are nation treasures and thanks for posting this clip.
