A root canal has to be performed if the dental nerve (Latin: Pulpa) has died and/or is infected. The objective of a root canal is to completely remove the destroyed tissue (which may also be infected with bacteria in some cases) from the interior of the tooth, so that the infection is prevented from spreading to the bone.

@islamia100 hi! please clarify what kind of a "slightly uncomfortable pain" you were talking about :]

@vampirelover24680
I had this done only yesterday and during the entire treatment I experience no pain whatsoever except for when the injection was given to numb the area, and even that was a slight scratch.
You'll be slightly uncomfortable during the procedure but nothing out of the ordinary. There should be no pain afterwards.

How painful is this process like in general? And how long to perform the procedure and how long for it to, I guess, heal?

wtf the dentist never put that shield from saliva thing on my face. He just put a tissue over my eyes so I couldn't see anything.
