These things are going for good money on Ebay so I listed mine for a one day sale. It sold for $123.50. It would have brought more, but I'm not sure if it was working right and I put that in the description. Ebay seller ID is terminal99

  • I bought one of those 717's a few weeks ago for 50$... The 700's are gieger counters... Sorry to say but that IS NOT a gieger counter... It's a high gamma radiation meter. It's only for the power from fallout after a total nuclear war.

  • @nukesvids Thanks for the info.

  • very nice, I see you did well with it. I got two videos made on my wife's Iphone and can't get them to upload correctly. Hopefully tomorrow I will have them up and begin my new adventure of youtube videos. keep them coming it's flea market season.

  • @dojomatt98 The unit shown in the video detects (not measures) ionizing radiation events, such as a gamma ray. This is similar to a Geiger counter, which detects (not measures) ionizing radiation events, as well.

Both are different methods of acheiving similar results. The Ion Chamber, what is shown in the video, is for very high radiation and usless for low level contamination. Geiger counters, however, can detect very low to very high.

  • @simpsonfuturama1 This unit does not contain a Geiger Muller tube and is therefore not a Geiger counter. This is the definetion of a Geiger counter. This unit has an ionization Chamber detector.

  • The problem is that you do not actually have a Geiger counter. The unit you have is an ionization chamber. The devices are completely different.

The unit is aparently broken or miscalibrated. Sitting in a box so long probably played a part. It could be repaired, most likely.

Remember, a Geiger counter is a device which contains a Geiger Muller tube. This is the only definition of a Geiger counter. The CD V-717 is not such a unit.

  • @simpsonfuturama1 The CD V717 isn't a geiger counter. No matter how many people you call dumbass.

  • Dude a survey meter is a gieger counter dumbass

  • don't get ripped off a cdv 717 isn't a geiger counter,it's a survery meter
