This video essay captures one of the great wildlife scenes in Wisconsin: bald eagles in winter, fishing in the waters of the Wisconsin River just below the Prairie du Sac Dam.
Most of Wisconsin's lakes and rivers freeze over during the state's harsh winters. These wintering eagles seek out places of open water to fish and this area just below the Prairie du Sac dam is perfect. Scores of eagles congregate here; it makes for great eagle-watching", and so, not surprisingly, this site is one of the premier locations on The Great Wisconsin Birding and Nature Trail.
Amazing video. We were just there at that exact location, and we seen at least 20 Eagles by the dam.
