    Why?

    Those are all right-wing agendas.

    But,how about stories on

1.)Latin America being far more 'democratic' than the nation states of the North West hemisphere.

2.)Corporate immigration(nothing like our booming job market.)

3.)US State terror, torture, kidnapping, sanctions against the poor,co-operation with regimes that we are actually 'at war' with.

Let me know when you hear the mainstream press do honest pieces on that.

Paul Krugman also declared the W admin as radicals, as a revolutionary force. It was in "The Great Unraveling."

She should come on Meet The Press. PBS is a relatively good news organisation.

I'm really appreciative of Dem Now and Amy Goodman's reporting. Glen Greenwald has written some good opinion pieces for The Guardian too. They're appreciated because unlike MSM they give a context for issues/events being reported. Ask searching questions and answer them with insightful and knowledgeable guests.

I actually cringe when watching the BBC's reporting. Increasingly full of errors, false assumptions, spin and deception through omission.

You buy the daily newspaper from your supermarket and watch the 6PM news on commercial TV, you're basically commiting yourself to adopting the perspectives on the world that people like Rupert Murdoch want you to, inspite of your socio-economic position. Trade Unions are evil and a threat to national economies, asylum seekers are freeloaders taking our jobs, blonde bimbo topless women are so newsworthy they demand page 3, we should all aspire to celebrity status... Consume, Consume, Consume.

The global mainstream media is a brainwashing tool of the elites designed to keep the rabble in line, by distracting them with celebrity nonsense, one-upmanship consumerism, and pointless discussions on which of 'two white men in black suits' who are essentially the same, are most capable of making the important decisions which mostly work against our interests. I think a lot of people in the US & the West in general would be horrified if they understood what their tax dollars are buying.

.Ultimately such opinions are incongruent with the dominant narratives, and are thus excluded from the debates. There's a very good reason the 1% (people like Murdoch, Gina Rinehart and Jamie Packer, here in Australia) want control over the media. you control the media, then you control the acceptable boundaries for political discussion. More importantly, you can control how people 'understand' political issues. Any surprise 'Trade Unions' are demonized in News Limited press and elsewhere?

Glenn Greenwald is right. You have these kind of ideologically formed boundaries in the mainstream that give shape to political debates that are perceived as permissible. As a journalist, it's OK to disagree or criticize particular policies of political leaders/parties, but once you start questioning the frameworks that underpin these policies, you've stepped outside of those boundaries deemed acceptable for mainstream political debate.

Some people who live in the television universe need some outside perspective.

Enough outside perspective and you realize Left is just a sign they make you wear after you figure out what those in power have been up to...it's just a "device" to marginalize narratives that include recent science and realities around the world.

Amy may overstate things, but she gets the news out that can't be reported on TV, and her guests often give great insight (one even let me know I have ADHD, TV never did)

Thank you, Bill, for asking this...Michael Hudson kept asking her same & I always wondered. Just as Glenn says he was treated like he was speaking a foreign language when he broached the illegality of Bush's wiretaps, she'd sound like a martian to people in the television universe.... DN! was the FIRST news show that prompted me to fact check, and it began my 5 month analysis (of watching news reporting from six countries + personal research). & It's over a year since I've watched corp news.

That's *EXACTLY* what she does and what happens, too, when she's invited by Chris Hayes to be on his weekend MSNBC show, "Up with Chris Hayes," and I must say...I *LOVE* it every time he has her on.

Way to go Chris Hayes for actually getting someone like Amy Goodman onto MSNBC. w00t!
