  • wow-mr. blake was at your house? Incredible!

  • Incredible? Yes! Martha and I were just out of college when our new friends Eubie and Marion Blake would stay at our house in both Calif. and Florida for extended periods. We also did concerts, radio shows and other public appearances with Eubie for almost 15 years. We spent many treasured hours at the piano talking music and American musical history. We recorded two albums on Eubie's label and were preparing a PBS special with Eubie in 1982 when he became too ill to perform.....

  • Is it possible to have impressionistic stride piano?

  • Please define your adjective...... in classical music "impressionism" utilized the absence of a tonal center, achieved by extensive (but not exclusive) use of whole tones. My first thought is that a stride piano piece based on whole tones would fall into the category of "novelty" piano. What do you think, viewers?
