Nick was leaning on the hood of his car when he finally saw Miley leaving the school building, "hey." He approached her and offered her a smile.

"What do you want?" Miley asked softly as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She gradually dragged her attention from the ground to look into his chocolate mocha orbs.

"I wanted to talk about what's going to happen with us and the . . . baby." He blew out his cheeks as the word tasted like acid on his tongue. His mind was wrapped around the subject matter ever since his conversation with Miley a few days back.

"You made it bluntly clear that you want nothing to do with my baby." She said sharply and tried to dart past him, so she could walk home.

"Our baby," Nick corrected as he moved to the side to block her from going anywhere.

"No, I'm going to raise my baby on my own—without your help. I want you to have no part in my baby's life." She stuck her chin up defiantly trying to show confidence, but on the inside, she was faltering.

"You can say the baby is yours all you want, but I'm going to help you whether you like it or not." He said.

"Oh, really?" She said. "How are you supposed to do that when you're still with Hannah?"

He shrugged. "I'm suddenly failing math and I need you to tutor me. Then, I can go over to your house when she's off at cheer practice. I'll make this work for us, Miley." He told her sincerely.

"Fine," she agreed. "Now, can you please let me go home? I really need to pee."

Nick chuckled as he stayed where he stood. "You make jokes when you're nervous."

"I am not nervous." She countered.

Nick arched an eyebrow and traced the pad of his thumb over her cheek, brushing away the wisps of hairs that had fallen over her eyes.

Miley's breath hitched in her throat and she swallowed audibly she closed her eyes and cursed herself silently for being nervous whenever he touched her. "I- I'm not nervous." She stammered.

The pad of his thumb traced over her cheek down to her plump lips. He wiped his thumb over her lips and tipped her chin up with his hand. "Are you sure about that?" He breathed.

Miley's eyes fluttered open to show him that she wasn't. As she opened her mouth to argue back, Nick's mouth covered hers and she felt herself turn into a puddle of mush. She sagged towards him as her lips pressed firmly to his.

His arms linked around her petite waist and he chuckled against her lips.

She pulled back reluctantly as a rosy hue stained her cheeks. "This isn't happening . . ."

Nick rubbed a finger over his lips, obviously feeling the tingle from Miley's voluptuous lips. "Getting a little rough there, eh baby?" He asked with a twinkle in his eye.

Her eyes clouded with tears. "I try so hard to deny you and just when I think I'm over you and over what happened at that stupid party, you pull something like that and I'm falling for you all over again."

A smirk wiped itself off of Nick's face as he reached out to wipe the tears rolling down her cheeks. "Miley, don't cry . . ."

She put her own hand up and blocked his. "I'm going home." She told him and brushed past him, hurriedly walking down the sidewalk. She brushed her fingertips across her cheeks and sniffled as she tried her best not to cry—at least not until she was in the comfort of her bedroom.

Nick sighed and ran his hand through his tousled curls. "Sorry," he said quietly, a little too late for Miley to hear. He had to fix this—he had to fix the mess he made, and he had to do it quick before he lost not one, but two of the girls who had managed to capture his heart.
