NATURE THE BEST :D
-
Simplicity at it's best. Our current state of living is such destruction, not to just the earth, but our health. Stress and our SAD (Standard American Diet) has caused 80% of our current health problems. 400 of our medically journaled diseases are all lifestyle related. Heart disease,Cancer,Stroke, Chronic lower respiratory diseases,Diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, Influenza and Pneumonia, &Septicemia are all preventable. As a matter of fact they shouldn't exist. Natural and simple is the answer.

@l337pwnage What makes that 1859 comment so funny today , is that Oil was so abundant, it was considered a curse, there are laws in the books in some places that prevent a seller of land from not disclosing to the buyer, that there is oil on the land, that was considered at one time a fraud ! because nothing would grow there. yes in many places all you had to do is stick a shovel in the ground, or like in the Beverly Hillbillies, just shoot at it and oil would come up lol, not any more!!
-
@l337pwnage Some folks think when they talk about "oil running out" that it means we wont have any in a snap of the fingers, this is not so, it just means that there will be a long decline, and oil will just get more and more expensive, leaching from every economy in the world, then we have forest, more trees are being cut than being replaced, its just numbers, not what one "thinks or wishes" and excellent clip on exponential growth can be seen here watch?v=F-QA2rkpBSY

@agriperma The world cannot be maintained forever either. It will end, according to everything science tells us so far, but most people are certainly not qualified to judge planetary resources.
Here is a fun quote:
"Drill for oil? You mean drill into the ground to try and find oil? You're crazy." -- Workers whom Edwin L. Drake tried to enlist to his project to drill for oil in 1859.
Hobbies like this are mostly for bored wealthy people(Wealthy compared to most of the world).

@l337pwnage the current system cannot be maintained for ever, resources are being used faster than they can be replaced, you cannot have exponential growth with limited resources, its just plain math. I do believe that a sustainable way of living is the way to go, I would do things a bit differently if I was to design a community, privacy is a must, and things do not have to be that spartan. but these people have the right to live the way they want and I respect them for it.

@halopa246 People who do not receive much, generally do not participate much, either because of lack or desire or ability. People also will never be equal because the very laws of evolution make it impossible. And in the case of humans, we see a much larger variation in ability that we see in animals because we are very able to care for the weak and the infirm, whereas animals cannot.
You do not see "animal slums" in nature because all those animals than cannot care for themselves die off.
-
@l337pwnage : I think your missing the whole point. As in any true democracy all who participate benefit yet this is not the case with our current economic/monetary system. Furthermore it is us who can and have the responsibility for changing what is no longer beneficial to the majority of people. It's just a matter of time before the majority realizes this and change will occur because it will not only be needed but wanted. Higher consciousness will equate to higher actions no doubt about it.
-
@halopa246 that is easy, because most people are not smart enough to understand the system. For example, a computer might as well be a paperweight to you if you are illiterate. And even if you are only literate, but not educated in computers, you will still barely get by on the internet.
The reality is even the most unintelligent benefit from the system (welfare for example), but they will not benefit as well as the people who understand the system. Its still better than being without it.

@l337pwnage : Complex in the sense that the corporate elite have figured out, with the help of the politically and morally corrupt, how to enslave even those who participate in your so called 'complex socioeconomic system' which in reality is essentially a monetary system with one purpose and that is to make us into debt slaves so we can feed their lust for wealth and power. If that in your opinion is a good system why does it benefit so few?
Have you checked the status of health in America?
