Takla Makan is the artist name of Englishman Tony Allgood.
Tony has been producing music for over 28 years. His main influences are Tangerine Dream, Mike Oldfield and Jean Michel Jarre. However, over the years inspiration has come from many sources including the late 80s rave scene, classical works and film soundtracks. This mix and match of musical genres has come together in a style that is distinctly Tony's and won him considerable acclaim from listeners and EM critics all over the world.
He has produced six albums. For a long time Takla Makan had problems finding a home on a commercial label. Many have been approached but the difficulty in tying his music down to a particular genre has scared all too many of them. Even so, Tony has been selling CD-Rs direct to the public for many years. Nowadays his music is available through synthmusic direct and musiczeit.com

About Landlines:Tony Allgood, the man behind Takla Makan, is a man of many talents. He runs a thriving business restoring and manufacturing analogue synthesisers. In his spare time he can also create some stunning EM, making use of all the impressive gear at his disposal... The sensational follow-up to the highly acclaimed albumContour. Creative rhythms and rich melody combine with a sprinkling of Jarresque magic to produce a stunning album which no EM fan should be without.
Great Dun Fell is the second-highest hill in the Pennine range, United Kingdom, lying two miles south along the watershed from Cross Fell, its higher neighbour. Together with its smaller twin, Little Dun Fell, it forms a stepping-stone for the Pennine Way on its long climb up from Dufton.
At the summit, there is a radar station that is operated by NATS and is a key part of the Air Traffic Control system for the North Atlantic area.
I have recently bought Landlines and I have to say the actual track 'LandLines' is really rocking my boat, it's an incredible track!

TAKLA MAKAN is an eye-shaped desert in the northwestern Himalayas, southeast of Kyrgyzstan; it's meaning is "you can enter - but you cannot leave"

@foghornusa Correct. The reason why Tony Allgood uses Takla makan as artist name is because of his respect for this astonishing desert.
