Yes,, it could take up to 8 hours for bread to soak up milk and egg, it takes me all day to make french toast .... lucky we have the frig to store it while it soaks it up.

@kristinelovesrain yeah, she doesn't say but I'm pretty sure it's so the pieces of bread soak up the milk & egg mixture.

Yeah so we have it a room temp. then put in the fridge and then get it back to room temp.?
