Stellan Bengtsson (Sweden) versus Huang Liang (China) in the round of 16 at the 1981 World Championships. Note Huang's hiding and flipping of his racket, he played with long pips and smooth rubber of the same color.

  • @DKPOWA NO! It was not sick.

Actually it was stupid to take the same rubber rule out.

When defenders used the same colour rubbers you were obliged to think and look more. You could always spot which rubber had been used as the trajectory was a bit slower or a bit woobling: As an attacker you developed a greater touch, intelligence and sensibility.

When they took out the same rubber rule the game resulted impoverished.

  • Yung 63A for the chinese player ?
