College of Coastal Georgia - Student Housing Facility

Lott + Barber is proud to have been the Architect for the College of Coastal Georgia's first dormitory.

This 350 bed dormitory is the first student housing facility on the College of Coastal Georgia's Campus and provides considerable resources to support the students' needs in sleep, study, and recreation. The three buildings of the facility are carefully arranged to both define a central courtyard and maximize students' views to the adjacent lake.

The hexagonal courtyard is enclosed on three sides by dormitory buildings, but spills out to the east affording views and student access to the campus' spring-fed lake. Each building contains numerous quiet study areas and large student lounges for students to relax and foster connections with their fellow students.

•350 bed dormitory with Resident Manager offices and private suite

•Features a mix of 4-bedroom suites, 2-bedroom suites, and 2-bedroom semi-suites

•Many of the bedrooms and living rooms have clear views to the courtyard and lake.

•Because of the unique layout of the buildings, students have more than 10 suite layouts to choose from.

•Naturalized wooded areas were carefully accommodated into the building layout to both protect the native long-leaf pines found on site, but also foster wildlife diversity on campus.

•The 13-acre development contains no stormwater infrastructure. As part of both good sustainable design and the design team's diligence in looking for opportunities to increase project value, all stormwater is slowed and allowed to infiltrate on site through a series of bioswales and low depressions used for infiltration.
