  • Ninety per cent of what I own and like and upload is not in English. But I cannot hear the Messiah in anything else except English. I grew up with it that way. Who better than Elisabeth to render this most beautiful part of the oratorio !! Thank you for it.

  • Listening to this is a humbling experience. THANK YOU Elisabeth (and Walter), and THANK YOU Glenmed for this (and all the other) wonderful (understatement) Elisabeth tracks.

  • Her voice is too busy for this piece of work. I like a more natural sound with vibrato toned down in this particular number, like Lynne Dawson's sweet, beautiful voice. After all, it is not an opera. Elizabeth's voice is more suited for that venue.

  • So lovely to hear this sung so beautifully in the correct tempo.

  • Bravo !!

  • Easter!

  • so noble, so beautiful...but what else could you expect from Die Heilige Elisabeth?

  • Thank you. This is the one ES Lp I never bought so a pleasure to listen to. I too heard her at two Edinburgh festival recitals. The first was unforgettable when she was still in possession of all her marvellous vocal resources.

  • beautiful. i remember seeing her at the edinburgh festival many years ago. when on bbc radio 4's desert island discs she chose to take all her own recordings....and why not with a voice like this?

  • The ultimate superiority of Human Singing by Elisabeth while being conducted by God himself (O Klemperer)
