Request! A very simple Victorian style pompadour and a few options for wearing it.

You'll need:
bobby pins (not hair pins!)
a brush or comb
something to part your hair

It has been brought to my attention that applying cornstarch to your roots can help provide volume to your pompadour. Wash-day hair has sebum at the roots which makes your hair look "greasy" and piece-y. If you apply cornstarch and brush it out, it will help with hold and will give your roots more volume. This may help those of you out there who (like me) do not use product on your hair but would like height and volume. (*Thanks, walterScan.)

  • Please learn to pronounce the NAME , ANASTASIA ROMANOV...she was butchered by vile bolsheviks. I also suggest you read a book about that family.

TRY to say this: ANNA TASH SEE AH ROME MAN OFF

She was BUTCHERED on July 17, 1918.

Please read the book: THE LAST DAYS OF THE ROMANOVS, Tragedy at Ekatherinburg by Helen Rappaport

It is a sad book about a true tragedy. None of those poor people died right away , they were made to suffer especially Anatasia, her brother and sisters.

  • @sutlers2day This video is merely a hair tutorial- not a history lesson. I'm posting your comment in case any one else is interested in the history of the Romanovs. And I've heard many different pronunciations of Anastasia, including by a native Russian friend, but I have never heard anyone pronounce it "ANNA TASH SEE AH." To each their own. :-)

  • ...I am obsessed with HIH GD Anastasia and the Romanovs in general. Therefore, added to my hair playlist!!

  • @deannamarie63 Awesome! I really love history myself and like to try to recreate old hair styles. Thanks so much!

  • great tutorial. but even more than that, great t-shirt. bangin' on a trashcan...

  • @fatkidindahouse "...strumming on a streetlight!" I loved Doug! You're only the second person to *get* that t-shirt! Rock on!

  • @thebackgroundartiste Just for the record, I said "Ana-sTA-cia" not " Anacia." But you are correct about the Edwardian era. I think this style could be worn for both the Edwardian period as well as the late VIctorian era.

  • @sutlers2day The way that they pronounce the name in the Disney movie (A-na-STAY-shia) is NOT how it is pronounced. The way that you are pronouncing it is Anglicized and is NOT AT ALL how it is pronounced in Russian. She is saying it correctly even with the emphasis on the correct syllables (something which is hardly ever done by North Americans). It is pronounced A-na-sta-SEE-ya Ro-MAN-ov. And in case you are wondering, I am Russian.

  • Awesome!! I love hair like that. I will definitely try this :)

  • @sutlers2day this is a hair tutorial and not a political forum, so keep your thoughts about the bolsheviks to yourself.

  • thanks for tutorial! I am obessed with the romanovs, and love to see what hair styles the girls might have had!!=)

  • You have a pretty voice and your hair is beautiful!!
